Can anyone point me in the direction of a non-well known literary magazine? preferably lesbian and feminst but one or the other will do, and also literary magazines that publish sex poems and short stories. I am looking for indie, underground stuff, nothing too mainstream. Thanks SO MUCH!

(NOTE: Heavily Cross-Posted...I apologize for those reading this multiple times)

I am looking for CHEAP international volunteer work or learning opportunities!! Please share any info you may have!

The specifics: I need something in Central or South America (preferably Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, but anywhere would be ok), something with a duration of 1 to 2 months, during January and February, something SECULAR, something that is NOT pushing neo-liberal ideology (I'm very cynical about most organizations), an organization WITHOUT a patronizing attitude toward the country in which it is operating and one that understands the political and social implications of its work there. Also, I need something that would not require fluency in Spanish or Portugese...I will have a moderate ability in the Spanish language at that time.

I know it's asking a lot...but, if anyone has had a good experience with a particular organization, I would really, really appreciate some info on it, along with the approximate cost of working with them! For reference, I consider having to pay $1000 in order to volunteer TOO MUCH. My particular areas of interest, if that would help: human rights, women's rights, indigenous rights, environmental justice, social justice, lgbt rights, etc.

Thank you so much!

Did anyone watch the O'Reilly Factor last night...not that you should watch that heinous show but it does suck you in, like Jerry Springer...the shock value is ummm...ridiculous. ANyway he had three guest the [former?] president of Planned Parenthood, a woman from "Concerned Women in American" or something like that and a "women's rights activist" to discuss the new commercial for condoms put on by Planned Parenthood. Which is supposed to be portraying the woman as having the power in the situation...it is cute, about power tools and having the right equipment and the women from the concerned citizens said "they are trying to portray sex as a recreational activity..." I was thinking, "duh?" what is the problem with that...and it was really just a ridiculous arguement because the women were on completely different channels/planes of existence and while one was arguing abstinence only the other was advocating women's sexual empowerment and then the other was throwing around supposed facts about how condoms don't protect against most STIs! It was quite a circus and so frustrating! P.S. incidentally O'reilly factor adviertises that it is a no-spin zone....WOW>>>>

Please be civil and keep all debates academic and clean, no petty arguements or personal put downs, this is a patronizing free zone and a safe space.
FIrst Question: What do you think of the use of words like gay, retarded, etc. as a put down, how is this an example of oppression, patriarchy etc.? Are you offended by these terms? Why or WHy not? ....(I'm starting simple with the discussion topics to get the ball rolling, then we will get into more global justice, social activism types of issues, feel free to bring anything up that you want to discuss!!
